Managing e-learning
After searching Google for “Managing
e-learning”, I found that there is a lot of information available about the
topic online. Further, there is a lot of information about “Project Managing
e-learning”, as well. When researching the topic, I was able to learn more
about leadership and management, while even learning more about managing
individual projects in e-learning. In reading articles, I found a blog with an
entire section dedicated to “e-learning project management”. After reading
about successful managing of e-learning, I enjoyed reading an article that
mentioned causes of failure. Lack of alignment to the organization’s needs,
poor communication with stakeholders, improper implementation, inadequate
organizational support, insufficient post-implementation support and incorrect
choice of design and roll-out technology are top ways that lead to failure.
E-learning
lms
My search for “E-learning lms” found
results crowded with advertisements and product websites. I clicked on one of
the first ads to check out the product. In this case, it was software by a
company called Docebo. It looks like to get a quote, you
have to reach out to them, but I was impressed by the highlights of the
product. They claim a user-centric interface that drives improvement in
training. The software offers tracking and reporting, as well as interface
customization, web-conferencing and online classroom training. One of the
selling points I thought was really cool is gamification of learning where
they’ve applied game design thinking to the software to engage learners. This
includes features like allowing the learners to earn badges and trophies.
After looking around more I noticed
that a lot of the top results in my search are geared toward businesses and
their use of learning management systems for their internal and client
training.

E-learning administrative leadership
This was
another search that was showing a lot of advertisement-type of results. There
are a lot of degree programs and job postings that show up, so I had to tweak
my search terms and dig through the results pages to get information on the
topic. I found an article that highlights the importance of e-learning
leadership in the healthcare industry that could apply to other industries as
well. This article outlines some issues and successes and goes into details
about how things should be, and the importance of good leadership in
e-learning. Some of the challenges include creating new content to accommodate
the growing multicultural blend of talent in the industry that brings a variety
of languages, backgrounds and experiences. As new medical discoveries bring new
methods for treating in healthcare, education is vitally important. Without
proper leadership to manage the learning process, the entire industry can be
affected.
